Caribbean Stud Poker History

Caribbean Stud Poker first appeared during the late 1980's. In fact, there is a continuous debate regarding the origination of the game. A few people say that, the game first emerged on the cruise ships of Caribbean islands, where voyagers used to play this game to pass their time. On the other hand, a few other groups say that the game first was emerged in a casino known as "The King International", which is at present being called as the "Excelsior Casino" situated at Aruba islands. The game was played without best percentages and advantages, when it was launched in the American casinos. Thus, the casinos decided to add a progressive jackpot bonus to entice a large number of casino players towards the casinos. It certainly increased the popularity of the game amongst casino enthusiasts.

Most poker enthusiasts believe that Caribbean Stud Poker entered North America during the 18th century, when the French colonists launched the game into Louisiana, and hence the transformation of game suggests the French name "Poque" to the "Poker" in English. The game has become successful largely and has made a unique way to Mississippi, as the countryside developed and people started settling down there significantly. During the mid 1800's, the game was altered to 52-card deck and documented in various journals and diaries of pilgrims and explorers.

It was originally started as a game for male strictly, but within a while, women also started showing interest towards this game. The game, in fact, is linked very closely with the development of the western United States and featured interminably in numerous books and films. Poker was then reintroduced into Europe, when U.S. ambassador, Robert C. Schenck, suggested it to the colleagues of Queen Victoria's court during the early 1870s. After a short period, Schenck wrote a definitive manuscript on the rules of Caribbean Stud Poker.

Caribbean Stud Poker was brought in American casinos in the late 1980's, and has started gaining popularity ever since. Today, it is the most popular casino games played in almost all poker casinos. Another reason for its ever-increasing popularity is the special progressive jackpot feature, when Caribbean Stud Poker reached the gaming world of Las Vegas. At present, the probability of winning a big amount on a bet of $1 hugely attracted a large number of players to the casinos that offer the game of Caribbean Stud Poker all over the world.
